Here is an opportunity to do something that will

Why your answers matter...

Every Census Bureau employee has taken an oath to protect every individual’s personal information, regardless of circumstances, for life. Information provided to the 2020 Census cannot and will not be used against you by any government agency or court, by law. Additionally, the information provided will not determine one’s eligibility for government benefits.

The census influences funding for local governments’ healthcare, senior centers, jobs, political representation, roads, schools, and businesses.

Help Newton County improve its community by counting yourself in the 2020 Census. The average amount Newton County will receive from the federal government is $2,300 per person, for 10 years, according to the Newton County government. The county will lose $2,300 for each person not counted, per year, for 10 years.

“The 2020 Census is vital to our Newton County community,” Sheriff Brown said. “I encourage each citizen to allocate ten minutes of their time while self-isolating to go online and complete the 2020 Census questionnaire. Your household matters. Making yourself count will provide funding that will help us progress further and build a better future for Newton County.”

Every individual should receive an invitation to participate in the 2020 Census in the mail by tomorrow, April 1, 2020. To ensure an accurate count in Newton County, either complete the census online, by phone, or by mail, following the directions provided in the mailed invitation.

The online form is available in many different languages and can be viewed by visiting 2020CENSUS.GOV.

Do not fear the census. Be counted.
